The Big Thank You

Well the dust has settled a bit. Strides have been taken. Sleep has been snoozed. And the amazing result from that was you joined us to raise over $20,000 for kids and for the work we do.

So we wanted to say something pretty simple…

That says all of the important stuff. And we mean it.

And while we’re doing the wrap up, how about a few little numbers?

We had a total of 33 fundraisers and 243 donations to reach our target.

And very impressively those 33 fundraisers between them have clocked up over 324 hours of some version of exercise or … well probably most versions of sleep are much the same.

The exercise came in lots of flavours though. Well, cycling was a prominent flavour but there was also walking and climbing and yoga and trampolining and gardening and table tennis and martial arts and volleyball and skipping and cricket and resistance and a range of things in the gym and a little half-baked Pilates and some fencing (the sword-wielding kind) and soccer and tennis. That is quite a collection.

We didn’t quite reach that 20,000 hour target.

But it’s also just the start. We intend to come back to do it all again next year. And maybe then we’ll reach 20,000 hours.

20,000 hours was sort of designed to match the hours of work we do each year.

It’s a lot of work but maybe with a few more members in the team we can even get beyond 20,000 hours.

Of course the target doesn’t really cover all the hours of work. We left out the rounds where the pain team see their patients. We left out the clinics. We left out the time in the emergency department or intensive care. We left out the recovery room.

And we didn’t even get around to pointing out that in each room there is more than one member of the team so all of them are clocking up those hours …

But those numbers can wait until at least 2023.
